Catheter care

The care of the cannulation site is a crucial element that impacts the quality of intravenous therapy and significantly affects the duration of the cannulation. It includes a series of actions before, during, and after the cannula insertion. These actions include the use of needle-free systems on the extension set, which allows distance from the insertion site, proper disinfection, using dressings that enable monitoring of the insertion site, and flushing with saline (preferably pre-filled syringes with 0.9% NaCl).
